There are tons of pictures to show, so this post will be all about the pictures. Let's see....where do we start? We had family come to town to visit us for a week and we had a fun time going to the baseball game, driving to Amish Country, going into D.C. to see the Cherry Blossoms as well as museums and the Memorials. It was fun to have them here and we celebrated Ryan's Birthday, Easter and Liala's 3rd Birthday all at once. It was a fun time and we were glad to have them!!!

Liala turned the big #3 and she enjoyed her birthday celebrations. I can hardly beleive that it's been three years since she was born. Dax turned 6 months old and we took him to the doctor for his check up. Dax weighs 19 lbs 6 oz and is in the 90th percentile! He is 27 inches long and is in the 75th percentile. He is healthy and growing at a steady rate. Ryan has given him his official nickname: SMILES! He is seriously the most easy going, smiley baby I've ever met. Everyone's first comment is how happy and smiley he is. I just love it!!! We love seeing him so happy.

At gymnastics last week, Dax was literally laughing at the Coach. She would jump up and down and do the stretches and he was laughing a laugh that came from his gut. It was adorable!!! Liala is really enjoying gymnastics and we started preschool again this week. We've decided that she needs a little bit of structure in her days to help with behavior and so we're trying our hands at something new. We'll see how it goes.

I'm sure I'm leaving something out, but that's all I can think about right now. Enjoy the pictures.

The Princess and the GIANT

<img style="display:block; He measures 25 1/2 inches long, and his head circumference is 17 inches. He is in the 75th percentile for all three! In comparison to Liala at his age, he is a GIANT!

There was a couple in the waiting room of the pediatricians office who were asking me about Dax and how old he is. They were amazed that he is only 4 months old and were making comments about how large his hands are and I think they called him "an adorable brute"! He is a happy, healthy boy and we are so happy that he's ours!

We took Princess Liala to see a local high school play this past weekend. It was so much fun because she got to dress up and even meet Cinderella at the end. We waited in the crazy line and when it was finally our turn, she froze. I think she was super tired from having missed her nap that day. And she was coming off of a sugar high as well. But I think she and Sienna enjoyed it!

That same weekend, we happened upon a Cinderella dress at the Disney store and we bought it for Liala. She wakes up every morning, and the first thing she does is put on her dress, gloves, and princess shoes! So adorable. These are some pictures to show you how adorable it is! I just wish it was glitter free. I am finding glitter in the fat rolls on Dax's legs!!

Christmas Day and the Princess Kitchen

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 214px; height: 320px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_YjTcboWXN54/S1DWIX2DbeI/AAAAAAAAAXo/RSsziNMGyaM/s320/DSC_0360.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5427072990309477858" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 214px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_YjTcboWXN54/S1DWH_st4UI/AAAAAAAAAXg/gu0NkCrI5Co/s320/DSC_0441_2.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5427072983827865922" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 214px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_YjTcboWXN54/S1DWHvbMLWI/AAAAAAAAAXY/PzuxI5G88hw/s320/DSC_0458.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5427072979459386722" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 214px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_YjTcboWXN54/S1DVrFN8iRI/AAAAAAAAAXQ/YmlxolhMWcw/s320/DSC_0489.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5427072487093209362" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_YjTcboWXN54/S1DU64uX7DI/AAAAAAAAAXI/jBWRnj3OA_g/s320/DSC_0464_2.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5427071659105840178" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 234px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_YjTcboWXN54/S1DUqZSYUPI/AAAAAAAAAXA/6D33wXMEnSc/s320/DSC_0373.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5427071375789019378" />
All Liala wanted for Christmas this year was the Princess Piano Vanity that she saw one day during a commercial break. We, being new at playing Santa Clause, waited until the week of Christmas to purchase the vanity. To our surprise, it was SOLD OUT. HUH?! What other kid in the world wants a bright pink princess piano vanity?

Apparently, every other 2-5 year old girl in the nation did! Ryan spent many early mornings waiting in the parking lot of Toys R' Us to be the first one in the doors checking to see if they had a shipment come in the night before. Ryan even checked in West Virginia while he was on a business trip to see if they had the dumb thing. NADA, nothing, zero. So we ended up getting Liala a BRIGHT PINK Princess Kitchen instead! And she loved it! She even called Santa on her pretend phone on Christmas Day and said, "thank you Santa for my beautiful princess kitchen." How sweet!

The one thing about getting to Toys R' Us early is you get your pick of popular toys that DO come in on shipments. The ZuZu pet she got was a hit! Liala really enjoyed the little hampster she named "Hammy". We really enjoyed watching Liala enjoy Christmas this year. We even stuck to our new tradition and sang "Happy Birthday" to Jesus and ate some cupcakes in his honor. Christmas just isn't the same unless you have kids to watch. The joy on their faces makes the day perfect. It was a great holiday! Can't wait for next year when Dax will be crawling around getting into everything!

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 257px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_YjTcboWXN54/S1DR0faer0I/AAAAAAAAAW4/atlY5stPqGU/s320/DSC_0566_2.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5427068250697412418" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 242px; height: 320px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_YjTcboWXN54/S1DRz2q3beI/AAAAAAAAAWw/f0SyyrKIxR4/s320/DSC_0394_2.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5427068239760289250" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 214px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_YjTcboWXN54/S1DRzrzsBCI/AAAAAAAAAWo/egj5kJw_P9o/s320/DSC_0527_2.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5427068236844500002" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 291px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_YjTcboWXN54/S1DRzfzdvmI/AAAAAAAAAWg/bSHVQsTahfQ/s320/DSC_0505_2.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5427068233622339170" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 303px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_YjTcboWXN54/S1DRy46YaZI/AAAAAAAAAWY/QX6ywl90fpw/s320/DSC_0485_2.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5427068223182367122" />

Just some pictures of Dax over the past few months. We are big on traditions and have tried to implement a few good ones with Liala around the holidays. As you can see, we did the gingerbread house and Liala spent most of the time just eating the frosting. We never really got a good picture of the finished product. We also tried reading "The Night Before Christmas" book everynight before bedtime. We also got Liala her own Little People Nativity so she can have one that is not "off limits"! She really enjoyed setting Baby Jesus in the manger with Mary and Jospeph. We also took time to just relax during the month and we tried not to make it so hectic- so we could really help Liala understand the true meaning of the season! More pictures to come!

Emergency Room Regulars

Instead of spending our early morning hours sweetly snoring away, we were in the Emergency Room- AGAIN. We woke up with Dax around 1 am and his fever was 104. The pediatrician sent up straight to the ER for follow up. While there, Dax was tested again for the Swine Flu. He also had to have a cathedar to take a urine sample to test for a Urinary Tract Infection. While we waited for the results from the tests, he was given another breathing treatment to open up his airways. The ER doctor said he has "baby bronchitis" and then she returned with the diagnosis...... SWINE FLU.
We thought we were so good about keeping germs away. Seriously. We have been hibernating for the past 8 weeks! Sadly, we can't prevent everything. So we had to cancel Liala's surgery because the anesthesiologist does not feel comfortable doing surgery when her recovery would be in a home with the virus. So it has been rescheduled for later in the month. Agghhh. Have I mentioned that I HATE WINTER TIME?!! When will summer be here again. I need it to come quickly.

Rough Weekend

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 293px; height: 320px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_YjTcboWXN54/SxMYSP1hd9I/AAAAAAAAAVQ/cm89AhgxPsw/s320/DSC_0431.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5409694279169832914" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 245px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_YjTcboWXN54/SxMYR8NFrUI/AAAAAAAAAVI/wEWXLpkSKTE/s320/DSC_0448_2.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5409694273899965762" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 302px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_YjTcboWXN54/SxMYRbiuLeI/AAAAAAAAAVA/G6kL9Hh-oOA/s320/DSC_0443_2.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5409694265132330466" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 214px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_YjTcboWXN54/SxMYRMrvlRI/AAAAAAAAAU4/LeCweU4-R_Q/s320/DSC_0498_2.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5409694261143639314" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 320px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_YjTcboWXN54/SxMYQoEsTsI/AAAAAAAAAUw/tDaDjJs7VCw/s320/DSC_0495_2.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5409694251316170434" />

What a weekend! After taking Dax to the doctor for the 2nd time this week, our pediatrician sent us to the Emergency Room to have a chest Xray, some blood work, and the swineflu test done. It broke our hearts to hear that she thought he needed to be seen in the ER. We thought he just had a little cold like everyone else has had.

To our surprise, Dax has been put on nebulizer treatments to clear out his bronchial passageways and to help his cough become more productive. It is so sad to see a 2 month old being zapped by radiation for a chest xray. :( It is hard to be a parent sometimes!

We go in for a follow up tomorrow for both kids. Dax will be seen for his cough and fever. And Liala will be seen to make certain she is okay to be put under anesthesia on Tuesday for her surgery. We pray that she okay so that we can FINALLY get the ear tubes put in and get the ear infections under control. I now know what people mean when they say "without your health you have nothing". These are just minor things, but it sure has been a busy November full of doctor visits, tissues, sneezes, and coughs. We will be glad when everyone is better!

"Mommy hurt my arm"

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 257px; height: 320px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_YjTcboWXN54/SwG_pgidhrI/AAAAAAAAAUg/lcol6TD9FqA/s320/DSC_0357.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5404811747651323570" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 216px; height: 320px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_YjTcboWXN54/SwG_konTZnI/AAAAAAAAAUY/hWRPX6oy3W8/s320/DSC_0386.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5404811663919769202" />

I feel like a horrible mother. Yesterday we had to take Liala into the ER because I had picked her up by the arm/wrist and the leg to move her into another room because she was throwing a fit. After a while, I noticed she was still crying and she was clutching her arm to her chest. So we decided to take her in to have her looked at because everytime she let go of her arm, she would cry and she acted like it was very painful.
So the whole way to the hospital, I am bawling my eyes out and apologizing over and over to Liala for hurting her arm. She asked me a few times during the car ride "Mommy, why did you hurt my arm?" Talk about heart breaking! I was so mad at myself for being so careless and I could not believe what I had done. And for her to ask me why I had done what I had- made me feel even worse. I take the prize for crappy mother of the year award for this one!!
Luckily, the ER Doctor we had was a very nice man and he fixed her right up. I had dislocated her elbow and he just popped it back in and gave Liala a red popsicle to make her feel all better. It did the trick!!
So this is a warning to all you moms out there- always, always, always pick them up under their armpits. Never by their wrists or their arms. Lesson learned. The hard way unfortunately. :(
As for an update on Dax.... the little man is growing like a weed. I swear her is already weighing in at 13 lbs or so. We go to the Dr. soon for his 2 month check up. I can't believe he's already almost 2 months old. He is smiling, cooing, and is a fairly happy baby. Last night he did a 6 hour sleeping stretch!! I think we're on our way to a full 8 hours in the next few weeks!! HOORAY!!!!!!!!!!
And Liala will go in for surgery on the 2nd of December to have ear tubes put in and have her adnoids taken out. If anyone has experienced this already with their kids, let us know your thoughts on the matter. We are kind of nervous about the whole thing because it is surgery and she has to be put under anesthesia. We'll update on that later!

What an adjustment

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 306px; height: 320px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_YjTcboWXN54/StzIPAmVzaI/AAAAAAAAAT4/wcJdDme5pvQ/s320/DSC_0454_2.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5394406613867416994" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 262px; height: 320px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_YjTcboWXN54/StzIOh4WE7I/AAAAAAAAATw/F7SrMoJ5ib4/s320/DSC_0387_2.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5394406605621433266" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 219px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_YjTcboWXN54/StzIOKnSZPI/AAAAAAAAATo/5pmA7Tfz-rw/s320/DSC_0377_2.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5394406599375873266" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 219px; height: 320px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_YjTcboWXN54/StzINre1tUI/AAAAAAAAATg/khwGXOqWEKk/s320/DSC_0383_2.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5394406591018939714" />
So life is crazy. And then you add another child to the mix, and life is chaotic. Everyone always told me that "going from 1 kid to 2 was the biggest adjustment; adding kids after that seems like a piece of cake." Well now I really believe them! Luckily, I have had the help of family and friends. I feel so blessed to have such great people in my life.

Today is my first day "alone" with the two of them. And wouldn't you know- I am still in my pj's and it is 4 in the afternoon! At least I got the two of them dressed today- just not myself. I think that is an accomplishment! Ryan is out of town on business again this week, so we'll be trudging through the week waiting for Friday to roll around when he comes home. Thank heavens he is only a few hours away instead of a few countries away. I should count my blessings.

Nothing terrible to report on my first day as a mother of two on my own. It's just a little different when you have to juggle feedings with trying to keep a 2 year old occupied. There are only so many times she can and will sit down and watch Backyardigans- even though she LOVES them more than she loves anything (except maybe Ryan and I).

I have to post some more pictures so all of you out west who won't see our new little guy for a long time can see just how much he is changing and growing. It's amazing how a newborn changes your entire life. And even more amazing is the love you can have for someone who has only been in your life for a few short weeks! Being a mother is stressful and crazy but something I would never trade.

Our Little Guy Has Arrived!

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 214px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_YjTcboWXN54/StIaRqb7pMI/AAAAAAAAATA/UcFxnzDr1qw/s320/DSC_0446_2.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5391400594667447490" />
<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 214px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_YjTcboWXN54/StIaQ9qP-xI/AAAAAAAAAS4/skLYXTiYuYs/s320/DSC_0430_2.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5391400582647905042" />
<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 214px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_YjTcboWXN54/StIaQmwe4iI/AAAAAAAAASw/-qRPtLF5RpI/s320/DSC_0560_2.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5391400576500032034" />
So I fell out of the blog world a very long time ago, and I'm just now climbing back in. What better reason to start blogging again than a brand new baby?! We are so excited to announce the arrival of our perfect baby boy. Our little Dax was born on September 25th at 1:12 pm. Dax weighed in at a whopping 8 lbs 1 oz and he was 21 1/4 inches long. A much different experience all around compared to the first time. His full name is Dax Decker Berg and he is the cutest little boy! We just love having this sweet spirit in our home and we are enjoying every minute of him. (Sorry to anyone who really checks this for updates on the lives of the Bergs!!!) We, like everyone else in this crazy world, have been busy with the ho-hum of everyday life. A quick recap:
Liala turned 2 in April and we had a party for her and a few of her little friends. I think it went really well and Liala talked about it for days afterwards!! I think she enjoyed the little bunny rabbit the most. She chased "hop hop" around the screened in porch and had a blast trying to catch it!
Ryan has been traveling for work a bit these days and is seeing a lot of success in his job. We are so proud of how hard he is working, and how well he is doing! We recently followed Ryan on a trip he took for work to Williamsburg where Liala and I visited Virginia Beach for a few days! I forgot the camera both days so there are no pictures to share but we had a great time! Liala is a water baby in every sense of the word. Or should I say a sand baby! She touched the ocean once and then spent the rest of the time enjoying the sand in between her toes! We will have such a great time this summer when we head to the beach in North Carolina!
As for me, I was finally seen by a Pulmonologist who helped me overcome my issue with Bronchitis. I am so glad to be well again after being sick for so long! Thank heavens for doctors.
And the biggest news of all is the news about the sex of our little baby! We found out on the 5th of May that Liala will be a big sister in September to a little baby BROTHER!!! We are so excited, but are having a hard time thinking of boy names. It seemed much easier picking out girls' names. We still have a few months to go so we have plenty of time to find the perfect name for our new addition!

Just call me Mrs. Fix It!

So it was really bothering me that I couldn't figure out how to fix my messed up blog. So I stayed up waaayyyy past my bedtime to figure it out! And I did. But now I am too tired to post all the pictures that we have from Liala's party, Ryan's Birthday, Liala's Birthday, etc. So that will have to be done on another day when it's not midnight and I'm not so tired I can barely keep my eyes open!

Ooopppsss!

After a long day with a 2 year old, a trip to the gym, and an hour on the computer- I ended yesterday by totally messing up our blog. I was trying to re-do the background, and this is the outcome..... ugliness! I was too tired to fix it last night and the more I thought about it today, the more upset I got. So I think I might end up deleting this blog and starting a new one. After all, come September, the "bergfamily3" part won't really make sense since we'll be a family of 4!! That's right! We're expecting baby #2! We will find out the sex of the baby in 2 weeks and we are so excited! So stay tuned to see what happens with this lame looking blog and our growing family.

Our Latest Happenings....

So it has been a busy few weeks for us. Full of doctor visits, business trips, peeing on the potty, and lots of fun! Ryan went to Dallas last week for a business trip. He is doing really well at his job and is now ranked #9 out of 300 reps! What an accomplishment!! Especially since he has only worked there for a few short months! His goal now is to win us a trip to Aruba; just the two of us! You'll have to stay tuned to see what happens!

It seems like this winter is full of sickness that stays for weeks at a time. We can finally say that Liala is free and clear of any ear infections and colds. She was on anti-biotics for the whole month of January. Poor girl! But now that she is better, Ryand and I are now sick. I have bronchitis, which is not really getting any better. I'm on my 2nd round of anti-biotics and I'm praying it takes care of it. Ryan caught a cold on the airplane, so he's not feeling 100% either. We can't wait until this winter is OVER!

Liala is growing and amazing us each day. We got her a little potty the other day, and she has successfully peed in it 3 times by herself! I can't believe she is already old enough to even understand what the potty is for! She spends most of her days coloring in her Elmo coloring books, reading books, and running around smiling and being happy! We love her so much!

We had a great V-Day. Liala and I set up a treasure hunt for Ryan that sent him all over the house looking for his next clue. He seemed to like it! And he found his prize out in the garage!! I got a dozen beautiful pink rosees which are still in their vase and smell so good! And Liala- well she won the jackpot! This girl is so spoiled! But in a good way, not a bad way. She really liked her gifts from everyone!

Our Little Liala Bear

Good Friends, Good Times!

So this week has been full of adventures for Liala. At the beginning of the week, we went to Chuck-E-Cheese with our friend Sienna to give her mommy some alone time with the little guy! We had so much fun playing with our friend Sienna. Another day we went to the Farm Musuem with our friend Paige. They had so much fun looking around and playing with the tractor! Liala also got to see baby Audrey a few times this week. She loves it when the baby comes to play with us! And today, we went to Scarlett's Tea Party! It was so much fun! We played games, ate lunch, opened presents, ate cupcakes, and threw balls all over the house! What a day! It's so nice to have such great friends in our lives; I think Liala has more friends than I do!! Either way, we're grateful for everyone's friendships!

Where's the snow? Where's the snow? Where's the snow?

So I'm a little late getting Christmas stuff posted; but better late than never, right?! It was kind of hard for me to get into the Spirit of Christmas this year because we were like the only state in the nation with NO snow. I mean, not even a flurry of snow. I was so jealous to hear about all the snow everyone else was getting. Even Las Vegas where Uncle Ty-ty was stranded because of record snow fall!!! Come on now- they are used to no snow for the Holidays!

Needless to say, we had a great holiday! Before Christmas, we took Liala to New York City for a weekend so she could see the festivities there, and meet the infamous Macy's Santa Clause! When we got through the line to see him, she bawled (of course, he is a strange old, smelly man!). But overall, I think she enjoyed her trip to New York. We also took her to the American Girl Doll Store which is the largest in the nation, I think. She is still too young to understand it all, but I think she enjoyed it.

We saw the ice-skaters at Rockefeller Center and the big Christmas Tree. Which I was a little disappointed in. Seeing it on television, I thought it would be prettier and much larger, but it didn't seem that way to me at all. Oh well, just being there was amazing. It brought back many memories of going to the city every weekend when I lived there years ago! How time has flown by.

On Christmas Eve, we took Liala to downtown D.C. to see the Christmas trees there. She liked seeing the train set they have set up around the main tree! She also got to sit on Santa's lap there, but again, she hated it! Maybe next year she will enjoy seeing him!

Christmas was fun this year. Liala really enjoyed opening presents all morning long. And I mean all morning. I guess we didn't figure in all the presents she received from family and friends, or we wouldn't have spoiled Liala like we did. She especially loved her Tickle-me-Elmo! She had a blast with him all morning. It was fun for us to watch her enjoying the gifts. Kids really do bring you back to thinking about how the Holidays were for you growing up. I have the fondest memories of Christmases from my childhood- thanks mom and dad for making it special for us every year!

We hope you all had a great holiday too! We had a great Thanksgiving at Philips Steak House where we had lots of yummy seafood to eat. The best part was we didn't have to slave away in our kitchens and worry about the clean-up afterwards! That's my idea of a thanksgiving meal! And it was nice to have Jenn and Wade here to celebrate with us!

December has been a fly-by month. It seems like it just started, and I looked at the calendar today to notice that it is already the 16th of the month! I guess I'm a little behind on everything these days. A few years ago, I was bragging that I had all my Christmas shopping done by October. I guess having kids really does change EVERYTHING!

We are very excited to spend Liala's second Christmas at home this year. We spent last Saturday driving to a tree farm where we planned on cutting down our own tree. But when we got there, the walk seemed too bleak; and to tag along a 20 month old just seemed silly. So we bought one off of their front lot, and placed it on the car. I say "we", but I mean Ryan!! When we got it home, it barely fit in the living room!! Who knew the trees were that big. They certainly don't look that big on the lot. So we spent our Sunday afternoon decorating the tree with the help of Liala. If you can call it help.

So now, like some of you, we are doing last minute shopping in preparation for Christmas. I'm even late sending out our Christmas Cards. Ahggggg. Maybe you'll get one next year instead! We hope you all have a great Holiday Season. God Bless.

Trick-or-Treat

These pictures from Halloween are long overdue, but I thought family would like to see how Liala looked in her costume! She didn't give us a hard time when we put it on her like I had anticipated (what a relief!).
We went trick-or-treating to a few houses in the neighborhood, and then we drove to Lily's house so she could show off her costume to them. Then we came home and she ate too much candy and stayed up way too late! What kid doesn't do that on Halloween?! Overall, I think she enjoyed the day. And the best part? Daddy got home from New Jersey just in time to go trick-or-treating!!
We're glad that part of Ryan's job is over. He still has a few weeks of training left, but he doesn't have to travel for it. I think both Liala and Sienna really enjoyed the outing! I would have to say that Liala's favorite part was the big pen full of about 40 baby goats.
Once inside the pen, Liala had absolutely no fears. She would walk right up to the goats and pet them, and hug them! There was one larger goat who was sitting under the slide in the shade and Liala walked right up to him and kept giving him kisses. The goat did not even budge! It was so cute. I'm glad I was able to get a picture of it!
At this farm, there were big slides that the adults enjoy more than the kids, I think. There were free samples of apple cider (the best I've ever tasted!), and at the end, we got to pick out our own pumpkins to take home.
So enjoy the pictures from our day at the farm!
Daddy comes home from New Jersey to see us today! Even though he'll only be here for the weekend, maybe we'll take him to Cox Farms so he can see how much fun it can be!

He'll be coming round the mountain when he comes...

Ryan has been gone for almost three whole days now, and we miss him terribly. We are looking forward to spending time with him this weekend! For his new job, Ryan will be in training for the whole month of October in New Jersey. He is able to come home on the weekends to see us and take a break from "the classroom". From what he has told us, the training is intense; but he is learning a lot! We are happy that Ryan has been blessed with this opportunity! As for the magazine? The first issue has recently gone out, and we're very excited about it! Next issue, I will be doing graphic design and writing a few articles. Wish me luck! I'm not very familiar with graphic design, but hopefully the Mac will make it easy on me!
We hope you are all doing well!

We've started a new tradition....

At the end of September, we drove to Nags Head with Nana and Grandma for a little beach trip. The purpose? Ryan had a crazy idea that we should run in their Heritage Days 5K. So we did! And we are still alive to tell you about it!
It was my first race, so I was kind of nervous about the whole thing. But Ryan, the seasoned runner that he is, was coaching me about what to do and how to do it leading up to the race. I am happy to say that I finished the race, and I placed 3rd in my age group! Next time, I will work on my time, but for now I'm going to brag about the fact that I even finished!
Did I say "next time"? Yes! I had forgotten about how it makes me feel to be "a runner"! I looked around at all the other runners, and they sure gave me (and Ryan, I think!) some motivation to get going again. So be on the lookout for more posts about races!

One Beachin' Family

This past weekend, we decided to get away and drive to the beach. I just love those little spur of the moment adventures. They don't happen very often, so I think that's why I like them so much! Liala had a great time. At first, she would not get off the blanket for fear of the sand on her feet. But after a little coaxing I got her to go into the water! She was a little frustrated because the waves would come, and then they would disappear. She didn't quite understand that part of the beach experience! She enjoyed playing with her sandtoys and running around on the boardwalk. We loved just listening to the ocean and watching Liala play around!

A quick update on our job search....Ryan had another interview today and was offered a full time position with ownership possibilites. That is 4 for 4!!! What an amazing guy, right?! Too bad he's mine! If any of you need help with interviewing skills, he's the one to call. So needless to say, we are still praying about which one is the right one for our family.

Other than that, life is pretty much the same. Liala turned 15 months this month, and we can't wait for her time to come for Nursery!! Aunt Brenda, watch out!!!

Job interviews....piece of cake!!

Ryan successfully landed the 3 jobs he was interviewing for! Who can say they've done that before?! We are so incredibly proud of him! Now we have the tough decision of choosing which one is the right one for our family. We want to try for another baby in the next few months, but we want to get settled in with his new job first; wherever that might take us! We think we've come to a decision, and we'll let you know all about it later.

Liala is still growing and changing everyday. She had a great 4th of July, and she enjoyed the fireworks. Today, we went with some friends of ours to a local Farm Museum where they had farm animals (not real ones!)and a little grocery store with things for the kids to play with. They even had snacks and a storytime for us. She and Lily had a lot of fun!

We're experiencing some technical difficulties....

Hey everyone! It's been a long time since we have posted anything to this blog. (Almost an entire year to be exact.) I guess we're not what you would consider your typical "bloggers". But hey, at least we're tryin.

We have a lot going on right now in our lives. Ryan is no longer with the company he has been with for the last 4 years (don't feel bad, it was the best thing that could have happened to us). He is currently interviewing, and has had some real success! Who knew that job hunting was such a chore?! So some kind of change is in the forecast for us. Maybe a move, maybe not. Tune in to find out what happens.......

Liala is growing up so fast. She is learning to use sign language more than she is learning to speak, but she is at least able to communicate, and we cut out a lot of temper tantrums this way! She loves, loves, loves dogs. Funny thing is, we don't own a dog. I guess when we get our own house, that will be her housewarming present! I'm not looking forward to that day. Sigh.

I am still watching Lily An everyday. She is a juberant 4 year old and a jabber mouth! So many questions. Everytime we are out, I think people just assume that I adopted her! A man at the zoo yesterday said to me out of nowhere "All of my Asian students were very bright. You sure are lucky." She is so cute though, I don't mind if people think she's mine! Liala really loves having her around, and on Thursdays when she isn't here, I think Liala misses her a little bit. Ryan and I consider her "one of our girls"!

I am good. I am still in Young Womens, and I really enjoy my calling. I saw the girls early this morning when I walked to the church to say goodbye. They have camp all week this week in Maryland. I think I'll go up on Thursday to see them and be part of the testimony meeting. I am still working at Gymboree every once in awhile when they have their new clothing lines come out. It's just nice for me to get out of the house and talk to grown ups for a few hours a week!

Okay, miss jabbermouth won't leave me alone so this is the end of my story for now.

Liala's growing like a weed....

Our "Liala Bear" as we call her, is growing up so fast. Everyone told us it would go by quickly, but I didn't think it would go this quick!! What a life changing experience raising a child is! We are very blessed to have her in our lives. She makes each day a new adventure, and we thank the Lord for gracing us with her presence every single day. We are sad that we live so far away from most of you! We wish we were closer so you could share these special times with us. But we are glad that we can post pictures so you can see for yourselves just how adorable our baby girl is! Enough about her...there are two other people in this family (although, it's hard to remember ourselves in all of this). Ryan is getting ready to go back to school, and we are very excited about that. We've had some bumps on our path that has changed our course a bit, but we finally feel like we're getting back on track. We are very grateful to "Nana" (grandma Julie) for letting us stay with her and Uncle Stinky while Ryan finishes school. What a blessing it is to us, and she will never know how much it means to us. If I could, I would live her forever! She takes such good care of us, and she adores her grandbaby! I am now a stay at home mom, and I'm enjoying every minute of it. Somedays are harder than others, and sometimes, I don't get a shower for a few days, but I feel blessed that I am able to watch Liala grow and change. That's all for now.... Love you all.
Ryan, Jamie, and Liala Grae
